From: cameragirlnyc (Subscribe to this user)

We met Liron, an Isreali just out of her two year stint in the army, walking down Main Bazaar in Delhi. Someone had told her that there was a great festival going on in another part of town... Liron learns about the dangers of asking for directions in this part of the world.

I would say people are at least trying to understand Liron, not to forget she is roaming into the remote slums of Delhi. I'm put up in Taipei since last october and could hardly got anyone one who can speak English, even an engineer couldn't speak not understand here. Now have recently moved to Seoul, its no different than Taipei.. May god help me..

Once a month we'd drive into the Alsace looking for a small village festival that I'd read about somewhere. About once a year we found it. The rest of the time we'd get what became our Liron response--straight ahead, just keep going straight and you can't miss it."

anita you leave the sweetest, most thoughtful comments! thanks!! And I agree with earthwormenvy -- i thought at first the cigarette would get the point across but then when people weren't getting it I thought I should have been clearer.

I really like Liron. Or at least how you show her. She has a child-like spirit. The endless contradictory directions is really part of the Indian culture. They are all so egar to help, to the point of being compeltely unhelpful. What a good idea to relate travel in India through other people's journies. You see how the esxperince is practically equal proportions external and internal.

thanks for the comments- I just put up another clip about this traveler (Liron). It's a pretty one- she has the world's sexiest stomach... http://www.lonelyp lanet.tv/Clip.aspx?key=BCE31FB 7AA5D7102

I agree with Baxta3. Great clip, it kind of reminded me of my 'direction' problems in Japan and Hong Kong... although unlike you I didn't know the languages (I actually expected them to know English!) I too was interested to know whether she found the festival or not...(I needed closure :P) still, its a great clip.

thanks- no, she never did... we assume there never was any festival (or there had been during the day but it was over.) I should somehow end the story with that fact but I don't have the footage- maybe I'll put a title card. Groovy music care of Oliver James.

Nice editing, good subject, and groovy music. Did she ever find the festival?
