    The word Instabul derives from the Greek words "is tin Poli", simply meaning "to the City". Constantine's City (Poli) was so big and important that for short anyone said Poli (city) meaning Constantinople. So, instead of saying "I am going to Constaninople" they summarized "I am going to the City (iss tin poli). The Turks did not understand Greek very well so they though the Greeks were naming Constantinople also as "Istinpoli" so they use the comp...
