On a mission to update the Sri Lanka Lonely Planet guide, Michael Kohn explores the temples and ruins of ancient cities, Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa. But before he sets off he starts the day with a traditional spicy Sri Lankan breakfast consisting of roti and dahl, which gears him up for the sights and spiritual rituals at the ancient temples and palace ruins. He then travels down to Colombo and discovers Sri Lanka's upcoming alternative music scene that fuses traditional Sri Lankan sounds with Western rock.
